Promotional/Giveaway Terms & Conditions

Your participation in the South Carolina State Fair’s Harvesting Happiness Sweepstakes (“Sweepstakes” or “Promotion”) shall be deemed to be your complete acceptance of the terms and conditions herein. The following are the Terms and Conditions of the Sweepstakes, which is sponsored by the South Carolina State Fair (“S.C. State Fair” or “Sponsor”).

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A purchase will not increase your chances of winning.

ELIGIBILITY: The South Carolina State Fair Harvesting Happiness Sweepstakes is open to all current legal residents of South Carolina in the United States who are at least 18 years old at the start of the Sweepstakes (“Entrants”). The Sweepstakes is sponsored by the South Carolina State Fair, 1200 Rosewood Ave, Columbia, SC 29201 (“Sponsor”). Void where prohibited by law. Employees, shareholders, officers, directors, agents, and representatives of the Sponsor (“Prize Provider”), as well as the promotion and advertising agencies of any aforementioned entity (“Sweepstakes Entities”), and their immediate family members (defined as spouse, mother, father, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, grandparents, and in-laws, regardless of where they live) and those living in their household (whether related or not), and each person or group or entity connected with the production or administration of the Sweepstakes, and each parent company, affiliate, subsidiary, agent, and representative of any aforementioned entity, are not eligible.

SWEEPSTAKES PERIOD: The Sweepstakes begins at 12:01 a.m. EDT on Monday August 4, 2025, and ends at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 (“Sweepstakes Period”). During the Sweepstakes Period, the Sponsor will conduct one (1) random drawing for one (1) prize winner. All entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

HOW TO ENTER: Beginning at 12:01 a.m. EDT on Monday, August 4, 2025, eligible participants may enter the Harvesting Happiness Seed Sweepstakes by planting seeds—either from the South Carolina State Fair’s seed packets or their own—and submitting a photo of their first visible sprout(s).

To complete an entry, participants must submit the following via either: - The official Sweepstakes entry platform (link found on scstatefair.org/growwithus); or - Email to marketing@scstatefair.org

Each valid entry (“base entry”) must include: - A photo of the participant’s first sprout(s) - All of the participant’s names - The participant’s city of residence

Participants may earn one (1) additional bonus entry by publicly sharing their sprout photo on Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #GrowWithSCSF. Bonus entries are accepted on the honor system and are subject to verification at Sponsor’s sole discretion. Participants must either check the applicable box on the entry form or include a statement in their email confirming that they shared the post.

Limit one (1) base entry and one (1) bonus entry per individual or group. Maximum two (2) entries per individual or group.

Sponsor is not responsible for late, damaged, delayed, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, corrupted, or improperly submitted entries. Entries generated by script, macro, or other automated means will be disqualified. Note: By entering, you consent to receive email communication from marketing@scstatefair.org. This is the only official email address that will contact winners. We will never request sensitive personal information to claim a prize.

NOTIFICATION: Each qualified entry received during the Sweepstakes Period will be entered for a chance to win the Prize, as defined below. One (1) potential winner (“Selected Entrant”) will be chosen at random from all eligible base and bonus entries on or about Friday, October 3, 2025 (“Drawing Date”). The Selected Entrant will be notified only via email from marketing@scstatefair.org. Entrants are required to provide a valid email address as part of their digital entry. No personal information will be requested beyond what is already submitted with your entry. Any communication claiming to be from the South Carolina State Fair that does not come from this official address should be disregarded. The Selected Entrant will be required to respond (as directed) within 48 hours of attempted notification. Failure to respond within this time frame may result in forfeiture of the Prize, and in such case, Sponsor may select an alternate winner from the remaining eligible entries.

The Selected Entrant may also be required to complete and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release (“Release”) within the time period specified therein. Except where prohibited by law, Selected Entrant agrees to allow Sponsor to use their name, likeness, and hometown for promotional purposes. The Selected Entrant’s name may be published on Sponsor’s website, social media platforms, and other marketing materials.

If a Selected Entrant: (i) cannot be reached; (ii) fails to return the signed Release within the specified time period; or (iii) is otherwise ineligible, an alternate winner may be selected by random drawing from remaining eligible entries. Sponsor is not responsible for undelivered notifications. Assumed notification via social media or email does not constitute confirmation of winning.

ODDS: Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received, including both base and bonus entries.

PRIZE: One (1) Selected Entrant—whether an individual or a group—will receive ONE (1) “Harvest Bundle,” which includes a total of four (4) admission passes and two (2) ride vouchers to the 2025 South Carolina State Fair (Approximate Retail Value [“ARV”]: $160). In addition, the Selected Entrant will receive the book Meet Me at the Rocket by Roger Stroup, with one (1) copy provided for each participant listed on the winning entry, up to a maximum of thirty (30) books (ARV of each book: $30).

Any taxes and any other costs not specifically stated within these Official Rules – including but not limited to transportation to the Fair, accommodations, or personal expenses – are the sole responsibility of the Selected Entrant. Prizes are nontransferable and not redeemable for cash. No substitutions are permitted, except at the sole discretion of Sponsor, who reserves the right to substitute the Prize with another of equal or greater value.

The Harvest Bundle must be picked up between October 8–19, 2025, during admission hours at the digital will-call kiosk on the fairgrounds. Books must be picked up separately at the S.C. State Fair Dowling Office Building on the fairgrounds. Failure to pick up the Prize during this timeframe will result in forfeiture. *Hours are subject to change due to inclement weather or at the discretion of fair management.

CONDITIONS: All federal, state, or other tax liabilities (including income taxes) arising from this Sweepstakes will be the sole responsibility of the Selected Entrant. The Selected Entrant may be issued an IRS Form 1099 for the ARV of the Prize. The Prize is awarded “as is” with no warranties or guarantees.

CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE SWEEPSTAKES MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS. SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK REMEDIES AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING ATTORNEY FEES) TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW.

By participating, Entrants agree to be fully and unconditionally bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor. Entrants waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Sweepstakes or these rules. Entrants also agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor, its affiliates, subsidiaries, directors, officers, employees, and agents (“Releasees”) from any and all liability, loss, or damage arising from or in connection with participation in the Sweepstakes or the awarding, receipt, use, or misuse of the Prize.

PUBLICITY: Except where prohibited by law, the Selected Entrant’s acceptance of the Prize constitutes permission for the Sweepstakes Entities to use their name, photo, likeness, city, and state for promotional purposes, in all media now known or later developed, without further compensation or notice. If the Selected Entrant includes a group with individuals under the age of 18, Sponsor will not use the names or likenesses of minors in promotional materials without appropriate parental or guardian consent.

DISPUTES: Except where prohibited, Entrants agree that any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with the Sweepstakes or any Prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in the State of South Carolina.

All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation, and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the Entrants and Sponsor in connection with the Sweepstakes, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of South Carolina.

PRIVACY: All personal information collected by Sponsor will be used for administration of the Sweepstakes. Entrants may also receive email communications from the Sponsor and may opt out at any time. For more details, refer to the Sponsor's privacy policy at www.scstatefair.org.
