ASM Global Managed Santander Arena and Performing Arts Center Achieves Prestigious KultureCity® Certification, Furthering Commitment to Inclusivity

Reading, PA                                                                                                   November 15, 2024

ASM Global Managed Santander Arena and Santander Performing Arts Center in Reading, Pennsylvania, have achieved Sensory Inclusive™ certifications from KultureCity®, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting accessibility for individuals with sensory needs. This certification underscores the venue's commitments to inclusivity, ensuring that guests with sensory sensitivities—such as those with autism, PTSD, or dementia—can enjoy events in a supportive environment.

The certification process involved comprehensive training for staff on how to recognize and assist guests experiencing sensory overload. Additionally, the venues now offer sensory bags equipped with noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, verbal cue cards, and weighted lap pads to help guests manage sensory stimuli. These resources are available upon request to enhance the comfort and experience of all attendees.

By partnering with KultureCity, Santander Arena and Performing Arts Center joins over 3,000 venues worldwide that have committed to creating more inclusive environments for individuals with sensory needs.

ProBerco has partnered with the Santander Arena and Santander Performing Arts Center on this initiative to bring sensory bags into both venues. “ProBerco is proud to partner with the Santander Arena and Performing Arts Center and KultureCity so individuals with sensory sensitivities can enjoy live performances,” said Jody Wagner, CEO. Explaining further that “this initiative aligns perfectly with our mission to promote inclusion, ensuring that everyone can enjoy everyday activities in meaningful ways, such as the simple joys of attending hockey games, concerts, or any number of shows at the Santander Performing Arts Center. By sponsoring these sensory bags, we are taking a significant step towards creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for people with disabilities living in our community, which is something we can be very proud of,” said Ms. Wagner.

Prior to attending an event, families can download the free KultureCity® App where one can view what sensory features are available and where they can access them. Also, on the App is the Social Story which will provide a preview of what to expect while enjoying an event at either the Santander Arena or Santander Performing Arts Center.
